The Hatsune Miku Movement
The cute, virtual pop idol Hatsune Miku is a singing voice synthesis software that was created based on voice data sampled from Japanese voice actress Fujita Saki. By entering lyrics and a melody via a computer graphic interface, a singing voice (vocal bytes) can be created! The Hatsune Miku software was developed by Crypton Future Media using Yamaha's VOCALOID voice syntesis technology, and was released in the summer of 2007. After relase, a wide range of songs, videos and creative media were created by Hatsune Miku users, and these works inspired even more creators and artists! The result has been a long chain of inspiration that still results in new works. The future of Hatsune Miku is bright, with new creative projects being made everyday! Hatsune Miku has been covered extensively by the mainstream media and won numerous awards. She has also appeared at overseas festivals, and has been made into games, CDs, DVDs, paperbacks, and figures. She has even appeared at computer-graphic-driven live performances! Hatsune Miku has gone well above and beyond her original function as music software!
